So we\u2019ve gathered together some great tips to help make things easier.<\/p>\n<h3>Sleep<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11693\" src=\"https:\/\/boptillyoudrop.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/01\/Bop-till-you-drop-5-school-starter-tips-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>Starting school is a big thing and can mean big changes to routine and this can be tiring. Making sure you all get enough sleep is important. Also make sure you take things easy for the first few weeks to keep the batteries charged.<br \/>\nSome parents like to get their little ones in a school time \u2013 bed time routine before school goes back to help with the change.<\/p>\n<h3>Talk<\/h3>\n<p>Don\u2019t just talk about the changes school will bring but talk about how their day went afterwards. Ask them three things they enjoyed about their day. Asking for a set number of things they liked is more specific than \u201chow was your day?\u201d, meaning you\u2019re more likely to get an answer.<\/p>\n<p>If your little one doesn\u2019t want to talk, don\u2019t push them, but do keep asking to show you\u2019re interested.<\/p>\n<h3>Tantrums<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11692\" src=\"https:\/\/boptillyoudrop.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/01\/Bop-till-you-drop-school-starter-tips-you-need-to-know-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>Don\u2019t be too surprised if your new student comes home and drops in to tears, refuses to do things they would normally happily do, or is argumentative\/tantruming. These things can be signs they aren\u2019t getting enough sleep, issues at school, but one often overlooked one is they feel safe at home. The school environment can be quite structured with many rules and wanting to please teachers and friends, home is safe and doesn\u2019t have such pressures. It\u2019s like shaking a can of soft drink all day and opening it when you get home \u2013 it\u2019s going to blow!<\/p>\n<p>Lots of cuddles, listening, and their favourite calming activities will help with this overwhelm.<\/p>\n<h3>Independence<\/h3>\n<p>Most schools will require a child be independent with toileting and able to do shoe laces, but have you thought about lunch and snacks?<\/p>\n<p>Can they open their lunch box?<\/p>\n<p>Can they undo any food packaging?<\/p>\n<p>Can they open and refill their drink container?<\/p>\n<p>All of these things are important when they are hungry and eager to eat and get on with playing.<\/p>\n<h3>Birthday Parties<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11691\" src=\"https:\/\/boptillyoudrop.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/01\/Bop-till-you-drop-5-top-school-starter-tips-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>Do you invite the whole class or not?
